The Conjuring 2: The Warren Files Opened
The Conjuring has now brought in nearly $140million and The Conjuring 2 is already in production with the leading question being what will the movie be about?
The Conjuring has been a polarizing film resulting in literally hundreds of comments on our site from readers who either believe in the true story or feel that the entire affair was a fabrication of the Warren’s. ( See The Amityville Horror Hoax. ) The Conjuring may be the film that has made them a household name but it is actually not the first film based off the investigations of the Warren’s.
The Haunting in Connecticut which was released in 2009 was based on the paranormal investigating of the ‘Snedeker Haunting’ which the Warren’s investigated. You can read more on this one here.
The Conjuring 2: The Warren Files ( catchy potential title ) if done right will have nothing to do with the Perron family and their farmhouse at all and should instead dive head long into the reported 10,000 paranormal investigations that Ed and Lorraine Warren did before Ed Warren passed away in 2006.
Ed and Lorraine’s reported paranormal investigations offer a plethora of material for the Conjuring sequel regardless of whether you believe in the paranormal or not. In my view there are two reported investigations that stand out as great concepts for The Conjuring 2. One is the story of a real life werewolf and the other is the story of a demon murder.
In 1983 the Warren’s were called in to investigate a reported Werewolf attack in which a man had attacked several people while being possessed by a Werewolf demon. ( allegedly ). This case was later featured in a novel by Ed Warren called Werewolf: A True Story of Demonic Possession. I would love to see how James Wan takes this concept and turns it into a sequel.
The second potential story line is also quite unique and is the story of a Demon Murder and mixes Perry Mason and Poltergeist. In the early 80′s Ed and Lorraine Warren were allegedly involved in the investigation of a family who were dealing with demonic possession which resulted in a possessed man murdering someone. During the trial the defendant pled not guilty due to demonic possession and the Warren’s were called to testify in court.
Regardless of what storyline James Wan chooses for The Conjuring 2 it’s a safe bet he will deliver a solid performance. Over the last few years Wan has really established himself as a new master of horror delivering one hit after another.
Do you believe in the Paranormal? What do you think The Conjuring 2 will focus on?
