Trick ‘r Treat 2 is in the Works
This is one of those weird news items where I don’t have much to say except: Holy crap, it’s happening!
Just a little while ago, at the Egyptian Theater in Los Angeles, there was a special screening of “Trick ‘r Treat” for Beyond Fest. This screening was also live streamed and featured a Q&A with Bryan Singer and stars of the film. It was during the Q&A that the subject of “Trick ‘r Treat 2″ was brought up. Michael Dougherty, the film’s director, said it was out of his hands. That’s when a representative from Legendary Pictures stood up and shouted “Let’s make a sequel!” and then the screen behind the Q&A participants lit up with the “Trick ‘r Treat 2″ logo. It was also revealed that Dougherty would be directing the new film.
Over on Entertainment Weekly they revealed an in-depth interview with Dougherty about the upcoming sequel and what directions it might go in. Be sure to read the article, but one of the key points revealed is that the film will explore more of Sam’s history.
There’s nothing I can reveal yet. It’s still really early in the process, but I can definitely say that we’ll be exploring Sam more and maybe getting into some back story of who and what he actually is.
Yeah, probably the craziest way to announce the sequel. Should’ve guessed that something was up when they offered to livestream the whole event. Currently there is no video of the announcement, but Legendary Pictures should have the Q&A up soon to view on YouTube. When they do, I’ll be sure to update this article. For now, enjoy this picture from Legendary’s Twitter feed.
