Its Mother’s day this weekend which means today you should be doing incredibly nice things for your mother dearest. It also means that its a perfect time for us to focus on a brand new Top 10. This go around you guessed it. Top Mothers Day Horror Movies.
Unfortunately in this one I do not focus on tender and loving mothers as much as I delve into the craziest and the sadists. Does it tell you something about my childhood? It probably does and should.
So here we have it in absolutely no particular order the Top 12 Mothers Day Horror Movies. With each film I have included the trailer for you since I am just a swell feller J
Strait Jacket
Made in 1964 this film is a thriller more than it is a horror film but that wont stop you from loving this classic 60’s horror film in which Joan Crawford who stars completely looses her sh*t J. Strait Jacket is from the writer of Psycho and is a film for lovers of 60’s horror magic.
After a 20 year stay at an asylum for a double murder, a mother returns to her estranged daughter where suspicions arise about her behavior.
Psycho:
Alfred Hitchcock is a genius and will stay in history as one of the greatest story tellers of all time. Psycho is one of his greatest films and one that I have seen more times than I can count. It is of course the story of an emotionally domineering mother and her son who run the Bates motel and the evil secrets it holds.
Mothers Day Massacre:
Mothers day Massacre starring Emily Grace is one film that has been panned very badly on IMDB for being an absolutely terrible film but I think it depends on your definition of bad. I feel indie horror film lovers will like it for what it is. A complete blood bath of violence it features a massacre on you guessed it… mothers day.
Jim Cavanaugh is a shy suburban New Jersey teenager. His mom left when he was a child and his father is an ass. The unrelenting psychotic domination of his redneck dad forces Jim to search out his long-lost mother. His quest takes him to the backwoods of Jersey where he encounters semi-retarded hillbillies who have a taste for DIY circumcisions and Peterbilt trucks.
Frightmare:
It’s not a nightmare kids it’s a frightmare. After spending 18 years in an institution, suburban mother Dorothy Yates is released, apparently cured of her cannibalistic urges. Yet her blood lust proves to be too much to resist and it seems it may even be hereditary!
Carrie:
This classic horror movie based on Stephen King’s first novel stars Sissy Spacek as Carrie White, a shy, diffident teenager who is the butt of practical jokes at her small-town high school.
Her blind panic at her first menstruation, a result of ignorance and religious guilt drummed into her by her fanatical mother, Margaret (Piper Laurie), only causes her classmates’ vicious cruelty to escalate.
Mothers Day:
Charles Kauffman delivers in this violent and sadistic film. Three girls discover that two men are willing to do anything to impress Mother and what impresses Mother is watching her sons commit acts of rape and murder. Now these women are prisoners and lowered to pawns in the game of checkers between two dim wits and their Maniac Mommy and the question becomes, can any of them escape, alive?
Mommy Dearest:
This one freaks me out because it seems this movie is about the star of Strait Jacket Joan Crawford. Faye Dunaway stars in Mommie Dearest, best-selling memoir, turned motion picture, depicts the abusive and traumatic adoptive upbringing of Christina Crawford at the hands of her mother…screen queen Joan Crawford.
The People Under The Stairs:
I love this movie and have seen it no less than 30 times! The People Under the Stairs is the story of a young boy (Fool) from the ghetto and takes place on his 13th birthday. In an attempted burglary (along with two others) of the home of his family’s evil landlords, he becomes trapped inside their large suburban house and discovers the secret of the
The Girl Next Door
One of the top rated film on our site The Girl Next Door is summed up best as truly shocking. A clear demonstration of why Jack Ketchum is so popular with his incredible and highly distrubing writing. In a quiet suburban town in the summer of 1958, two recently orphaned sisters are placed in the care of their mentally unstable Aunt Ruth.
But Ruth’s depraved sense of discipline will soon lead to unspeakable acts of abuse and torture that involve her young sons, the neighborhood children, and one 12-year-old boy whose life will be changed forever.
Serial Mom:
If you said a movie starred Ricki Lake and Kathleen Turner it would likely raise an eyebrow but this dark comedy from John Waters is nothing short of genius. It’s the story of a typical house wife and adoring mother who just so happens to hide a serial habit… or does she?
Inside:
Inside is brutal and difficult to watch and pretty much everything you might expect from a French horror film. Four months after the death of her husband, a woman on the brink of motherhood is tormented in her home by a strange woman who wants her unborn baby.
Rosemarys Baby
A film by the controversial Roman Polanski ( I say so for his personal life not his film career ) A young couple move into a new apartment, only to be surrounded by peculiar neighbors and occurrences. When the wife becomes mysteriously pregnant, paranoia over the safety of her unborn child begins controlling her life. Very rare trailer below
