A ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ Reboot is in the Works
Had to figure it would happen sooner or later, but here we are. ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ is finally getting the reboot treatment.
The announcement was made today amongst all the news coming out of Comic Con. According to THR the new reboot will be spearheaded by Monica Owusu-Breen who previously worked with Joss Whedon on “Agents of Shield.” It looks like the new reboot will focus on having a more diverse cast and will have a black actress portray Buffy this time around.
This also won’t be Breen’s first time taking on the role of a showrunner. She also created and worked as showrunner for “Midnight, Texas.” Sadly I never watched that show, so I can’t speak to how well that turned out.
Currently the show is being produced under the 20th Century Fox Television banner, but does not have a network yet. Fox will reportedly shop the show to both cable networks and streaming services. Joss Whedon, the guy behind the original “Buffy”, will serve as an executive producer for the series.
