From the Press Release:
IFC Midnight announced today that the company has acquired US rights to André Øvredal’s THE AUTOPSY OF JANE DOE from prolific independent entertainment studio IM Global, a subsidiary of Indian conglomerate Reliance ADA. The film, with a screenplay by Ian B. Goldberg and Richard Naing, stars Emile Hirsch (Lone Survivor, Milk, Into the Wild), Brian Cox (Troy, The Bourne Identity 1 & 2, Braveheart) and Ophelia Lovibond (Guardians of the Galaxy). The film was produced by Fred Berger, Eric Garcia, Ben Pugh and Rory Aitken of 42 and was executive produced by IM Global Founder and CEO Stuart Ford, Matt Jackson and Steven Squillante.
In THE AUTOPSY OF JANE DOE, two coroners – a father and son – receive a mysterious homicide victim with no apparent cause of death. As they attempt to identify the beautiful young “Jane Doe,” they discover increasingly bizarre clues that hold the key to her terrifying secrets.
Notes IFC Midnight: “Following the wit and creepy dread of André Øvredal’s award-winning TROLLHUNTER, we are very excited to bring his English-language debut to US audiences with a terrific Black List screenplay from Ian B. Goldberg and Richard Naing.”
The deal for the film was negotiated with Ford and General Counsel Deborah Zipser at IM Global on behalf of the filmmakers with Arianna Bocco, SVP of Acquisitions for Sundance Selects/IFC Films, and Betsy Rodgers, Senior Vice President of Legal and Business Affairs for Sundance Selects/IFC Films.
Said Ford, “IFC Midnight is the perfect fit for André’s stylish, darkly humorous brand of horror and we’re looking forward to a robust theatrical release of the picture with them.”
