A Pair of Writers Join ‘Fear Followers’
I’ve written quite a few articles about video games in the last few days (yay E3!), let’s see if I remember how to write about movies.
Deadline has learned that Adam Mason and Simon Boyes, the writers behind “Blood River”, have signed on to script the upcoming game movie “Fear Followers.” The script will be based on the treatment created by Jaime Primak Sullivan and follows a group of internet thrill seekers who run a blog called “Fear Followers.” The group travels around the U.S. searching for the most haunted places all while livestreaming their exploits to the internet. Unfortunately, they wind up trapped in their latest house and must now fight for their lives while the world watches them.
I don’t know if the movie is going to be made in the style of “found footage” films, but with all the talk of livestreaming, it certainly sounds like that could be the case. The premise of ghost hunters dealing with a deadly haunted house is also one that has been explored by previous films, I’m interested in seeing how this film will differentiate itself from those projects. What do you think? Is the premise burned out or is there room for innovation still?
