Addams Family Finds New Life as Animated Movie
Who else gets the Addams Family theme song instantly stuck in their head just by reading that name? Well, prepare yourself, because you’ll be hearing it quite often.
Variety has learned that the deliciously macabre “Addams Family” will be finding their way back to the big screen thanks to MGM. However, this time they’re ditching the live-action route and working on an animated feature. Here’s hoping they’re able to capture the style of the original comic strips.
According to Variety, Pamela Pettler (“Corpse Bride” and “Monster House”) will be handling the screenplay duties for the new film. In my opinion, they couldn’t have picked a better talent to handle Addams Family. When I think of macabre humor, Pamela’s previous films have been some of the best of the past few years.
No word on who will direct, but if Gil Kenan’s “Poltergeist” proves to be a success then hopefully his ties to Pamela Pettler and “Monster House” will draw him to the project. It also works out since he’s currently working with MGM.
In the meantime, sing it with me! “They’re creepy and they’re kooky…”
