A&E Has Fun With Religious Protestors at Comic Con with Mock ‘Damien’ Rally
If you’ve ever been to Comic-Con, a horror festival, or any sort of convention at all then you know there’s one thing that you’re guaranteed to see at one of those events: religious protestors. You know, the people that usually tell you you’re going to hell for having things that you like and for hanging out with people who have similar interests. If you go to enough conventions you start to learn how to tune them out, but A&E has decided to embrace their style of protest this year and join in.
At this years San Diego Comic Con A&E put together a promotional team of mock protesters to stand outside of Comic Con and warn people of their impending doom. You see “Damien”, the new series based off of “The Omen”, will be hitting televisions next year so A&E thought it’d be funny to get out there and spread the word about the series using mock protestors. And it kind of is.
Damien supporters wandered the streets holding signs that proclaimed “The Beast Rises” and “Its All For You” while passing out flyers that led to the show’s website “It’s All For You.” It’ll be interesting to see what sort of reaction this kind of promotional gimmick receives as the con goes on.
