AMC Picks Up Preacher for Series- Possibly Premiering in May
It feels like every post i’ve ever written about AMC’s potential “Preacher” series has been “It’s coming!” Well, this post serves only to reiterate that point. But at least we now have a window of when “Preacher” might finally arrive.
Seth Rogen took to Twitter to announce that Preacher was indeed coming to AMC. He even shared a cool little poster that probably serve as key art for the series. You can check that out down below.
As for when “Preacher” might finally air, Deadline hears that it could premiere this May. That makes sense given AMC’s current horror schedule. “The Walking Dead” will most likely air this Fall with a return in spring and then “Fear the Walking Dead” will return next summer. So a horror-themed series that can bridge the gap between those two properties will be a nice alternative for AMC viewers.
“Preacher” is based on a comic book series written by Garth Ennis and centers on a Preacher who is fused with the power of an angelic being. Take this newfound gift/curse the Preacher sets off a cross country journey with his ex-girlfriend and vampire buddy to literally find God and get some answers. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg directed the pilot from a script they wrote with “Breaking Bad” alum Sam Catlin. Dominic Cooper is playing the titular character while Ruth Negga is playing the ex and Joseph Gilgun is playing the vampire buddy.
