American Horror Story: Freak Show Receives 7 Emmy Nominations
While all the attention surrounding “American Horror Story” right now is centered on the upcoming season and the inclusion of Lady Gaga the previous season is getting a lot from the Emmys.
Today the 2015 Emmy nominations were revealed and the show leading the pack with the most nominations was “Game of Thrones.” However, trailing just behind them as “American Horror Story: Freak Show” with an impressive seven nominations. The series itself is nominated for “Outstanding Limited Series”, but the most interesting nominations come from the actor categories.
Jessica Lange was nominated for “Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series” against the likes of Emma Thompson, Frances McDormand, Queen Latifah, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Felicity Huffman. Given that Lange left the series after Freak Show I have to wonder if she the favorite to win simply because they’d want to recognize her work on the series.
The other nominations are a bit more interesting because they place a few of the actors in competition with one another. Denis O’Hare and Finn Wittrock are both up for “Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series.” Meanwhile Sarah Paulson, Angela Bassett, and Kathy Bates are dominating in the “Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series” category.
