‘Amityville’ Might Play a Role in ‘The Conjuring 2′
Before “The Conjuring” Ed and Lorraine Warren probably weren’t major names outside of the paranormal community. However, almost everybody knew about one of the most famous cases they were connected to: The Amityville Horror.
It would seem inevitable that a film series about the Warrens would touch on Amityville and now it appears that “The Conjuring 2″ might do that. A reader at Bloody-Disgusting found an actress who is set to appear in “The Conjuring 2″ and asked her if she was playing Dawn Defeo, one of the siblings originally murdered in the Amityville house, to which she replied “I play Allison, not Dawn.” Allison is, of course, one of the other Defeo daughters that was murdered. Further evidence on IMDB suggest that the father, Ronald DeFeo, has also been cast.
So it would seem that the Defeo family are indeed playing a role in “The Conjuring 2.” However, the next film will not be about Amityville as we know it’ll be about the Warren’s investigation into the Enfield Poltergeist. In that case the Warrens traveled to Enfield in England to help a single mother deal with a paranormal pest plaguing her daughter.
Now how do the Amityville folk fit into this story? It could be that the Amityville case might show up in the very beginning of the film and serve as a mini-case. Similar to how Annabelle was the first case investigated in “The Conjuring.” Afterall, the Amityville case took place in 1976 while the Enfield investigation occurred in 1977. Although it would be weird to follow the formula of the first film so closely.
Another possibility is that they might mess with the timeline a bit and tease Amityville at the end of the film. I mean, this is their most prolific case, it would be strange to have it show up in a brief cameo at the beginning.
I could easily imagine them coming home from the Enfield case and being told about this horrific murder by a man claiming to be possessed. The Warrens agree to investigate it and ask where it happened to which someone replies “Amityville.” Cue ominous music, cut to black, and start prepping for “Conjuring 3: The Amityville File.” The name Amityville carries a tremendous amount of weight, after all, they could easily do that.
