Animals Go Wild in First Promo for ‘Zoo’
CBS is currently working on an adaptation of James Patterson’s “Zoo”, a novel in which animals mysteriously begin to revolt against their human overlords. Domesticated dogs suddenly become vicious killers, lions begin to organize themselves like mobile hit squads, and cats… well… cats are still jerks.
The show will center on a ridiculed scientist who believes that the escalating instances of mammal attacks are a sign that animals are organizing to eliminate the human race. “Zoo” is set to premiere on June 30th at 9pm. And while the show is still a few months away, CBS has gone ahead and released an early teaser for it.
I’m just really curious as to how this show will set the animals up as a credible threat. I mean, it works as an initial surprise attack, but then once people know what’s up and they can get themselves properly armed it’s kind of game over for the animals. It’s not a like zombie situation where their ranks can be replenished by the dead. There’s a finite number of animals and a lot of humans with a lot of weaponry. I haven’t read the books, so maybe the show will delve into the ramifications of killing off entire groups of animals or they’ll try to cure the animals to prevent mass extinction. Either way, I’ll be watching just to see how they address those points.
