Arnold Reveals Plot Details for Terminator: Genesis
We know that a new “Terminator” film is in our future, but plot details surrounding the film have largely been kept shrouded in mystery. We know certain characters will appear in the film, but how and in what way? For instance, Arnold Schwarzenegger is back, but how can he play a Terminator when he’s lost a bit of his youth?
In an interview with MTV Arnold revealed a few bits of information surrounding the return of his robotic character. Shockingly, Arnold admitted that we’d be seeing an aging Terminator in the new film.
“The way that the character is written, it’s a machine underneath,” Schwarzenegger continued. “It’s this metal skeleton. But above that is human flesh. And the Terminator’s flesh ages, just like any other human being’s flesh. Maybe not as fast. But it definitely ages.”
Pump the brakes, Arnold! You’re telling me that the skin on top of the Terminator is capable of replicating the human aging process? Alright, I’ll buy that. It’s not the craziest thing to happen in a Terminator film and it at least makes sense when you consider the Terminator was designed to blend in among humans.
However, as we’ve seen in past films, Terminators don’t usually live long enough to age. So what’s going to be different about this one?
“Terminator deals a lot with time travel, so there will be a younger T-800,” Schwarzenegger added, blowing our minds, “and then what that model does later on when it gets reprogrammed, and who gets ahold of him. So it will be all kinds of interesting twists in the movie, but I feel so good.”
My guess is that one of the Terminators is sent to the past and screws up it’s mission, thus getting captured. We’ll see this young Terminator do its thing, but then be reintroduced as an older model later on in the film. So we might get a young looking Arnold via CGI for part of the movie, before he’s replaced by his present version.
That’s all speculation, of course, but it does seem possible based on what Arnold said in the interview. “Terminator: Genesis” will hit theaters on July 1, 2015.
