Bruce Campbell to Host and Produce New Horror Reality Series
Icon, legend, and king of geeks Bruce Campbell is returning to television later this year with a new “Evil Dead” series. However, that isn’t the only project the actor has up his leave. Campbell is looking to put together a new horror reality competition.
Campbell is teaming up with 5×5 Media to produce and host a show tentatively called “Bruce Campbell’s Horrified.” Here’s how Deadline is describing the focus of this new reality competition:
The concept is still being fine-tuned but I hear the contestants would live together, possibly in a haunted house-type of residence, and will compete in a series of team and individual challenges, with each episode themed around a horror sub-genre, like monster, sci-fi, psychological, zombie, etc., completed with decors, costumes and visual effects associated with that genre.
In a sense it’s a competition to determine the king of horror fans. I’ll be curious to see how they weed out the competitors to find this false king. Will they have to be conniving, popular, and clever? Will they have to backstab friends and allies? I’m sure it’ll have all the drama you’d come to expect from a reality series, but with a comedic gruesome twist.
No network is currently attached, but I have to imagine it won’t be long before someone snags this one up. Stay tuned.
