‘Candyman’ Director to Take on Frankenstein with Xavier Samuel

Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein” has been the recipient of adaptations since 1910 .  I can’t even begin to tell you how many interpretations the classic monster has received, but I can tell you about the latest one.

“Candyman” director Bernard Rose will be directing a new film based on the literary classic and it’ll stray far from the familiar source and take it into a new direction.  Here’s how Deadline describes the plot of the film:

Set in present-day Los Angeles and told from the perspective of Adam/The Monster, who is created by a husband-and-wife team of eccentric scientists only to be met with nothing but aggression and violence from the world around him.

In an interesting twist, the Monster will be played by a young actor named Xavier Samuel (“The Twilight Saga”), not all like the hulking beast we’ve come to know. Playing the feuding couple of Victor and Elizabeth Frankenstein will be Danny Huston (“American Horror Story: Coven”) and Carrie-Anne Moss (“The Matrix”).  Also making an appearance will be “Candyman” alum Tony Todd, but no word on who he’d be playing. I’d be up for Candyman vs Frankenstein’s Monster.  In fact, let’s just have Candyman do battle with all the great literary monsters.
