Capcom Releasing Home Arcade that Comes with ‘Alien vs Predator’ and ‘Darkstalkers’
So yesterday Capcom started to tease a special announcement about something they were going to reveal today. If you had a sharp eye you would’ve noticed that the teaser trailer included a trademark for “Alien Vs Predator.” So whatever the announcement was going to be, I was all in.
Today Capcom announced that they will be releasing a device called the Capcom Home Arcade. This is a plug and play system that comes equipped with 16 arcade game pre-installed in it.
For some insane reason the device is in the shape of the Capcom logo. It looks both gaudy and kind of amazing. It has enough room for two players to play on it and comes with an HDMI output, USB port, and is wifi enabled so you can upload high scores to the web.
Among the 16 games featured on the device are “Alien Vs Predator” and “Darkstalkers.” The “Alien Vs Predator” game actually predates the movies by about ten years. However, it was actually supposed to be a tie-in product for the first “AVP” movie. Unfortunately, that movie went into development hell until it was released in 2004. It’s said that the game is based on an early script that was to be used for the movie so that alone makes it a fascinating relic. It’s also a notable addition because it’s not a game that has gotten very many releases over the years.
“Darkstalkers” is a pretty awesome inclusion as well. It’s basically a horror fighting game. You’ve got vampires, werewolves, succubus, Frankenstein’s monster, and a cat lady all fighting it out. It’s a Capcom that, despite having a strong cult following, hasn’t gotten too much love from the company. So it’s nice to see it included here as well.
The other fifteen games include “1944,” Armored Warriors,” Capcom Sports Club,” Captain Commando,” “Cyberbots,” “Eco Fighters,” “Final Fight,” “Ghoul’n Ghosts,” “Gigawing,” “Mega Man the Power Battle,” “Progear,” “Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting,” “Strider,” and “Super Puzzle Fighter II TURBO.” That last one, not gonna lie, is probably the one I’m most excited for.
Check out the announce trailer below to get a look at this thing and you can watch some “Alien Vs Predator” gameplay below that if you’ve never seen it before.
The Capcom Home Arcade will release in October 25, 2019. However, right now they’re only accepting preorders in Europe. It’s unclear yet if this thing will come to the US, but I can’t imagine that it wouldn’t. Right now it’s retailing for 199 euro dollars. So, it’s gonna be a bit pricey.
