Carpenter Would Love To Direct a Dead Space Movie
A guy makes an off-the-cuff remark and suddenly everyone thinks he’s in talks to direct a movie. A lot of people are taking this as some sort of confirmation that Dead Space and John Carpenter are destined to work together, but don’t get it twisted. In a recent interview with Game Informer, Carpenter simply said that he would like the chance. Here’s what he said:
“I maintain that Dead Space would just make a great movie because you have these people coming onto an abandoned, shut-down space ship and they have to start it up and something’s on board. It’s just great stuff.”
“I would love to make Dead Space [into a film], I’ll tell you that right now. That one is ready-made.”
Nothing more, nothing less. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to see Carpenter bring some of his old school creature feature mentality to a Dead Space movie, but this isn’t any sort of confirmation.
Can you imagine though? If Carpenter were allowed to do whatever he wanted with a Dead Space movie it could potentially be something in the vein of The Thing, but in space! And everyone knows when you add space to a property, it always gets better.
