CW Orders Pilot for ‘Tales From the Darkside’ and ‘Cordon’
What’s up CW? Look at you, you were once the network equivalent of a bad neighborhood. When I was channel surfing I would roll up my windows and lock my doors as I skimmed passed you and safely moved on to ABC. Now you’ve renovated the streets and cracked down on the murders, becoming a friendly and inviting network. Thanks to shows like “Arrow” and “Flash” I actually spend a considerable amount of time on your channel. And now I might soon have another reason to check you out.
The CW has announced that they are moving forward with two pilot orders. The first of which is a reboot of the classic series “Tales From the Darkside.” The series is being put together as a one-hour drama and will be produced by Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci. It will also be written by Joe Hill who previously wrote “Horns.” Fun fact: Joe Hill is also the son of Stephen King.
“Tales From the Darkside” was an anthology series in the vein of shows like “Outer Limits” or “Twilight Zone.” It ran during the 80’s and had a movie in 1990. It was also created by the horror maestro himself George Romero. Joe Hill working on the series is also a unique connection as his father wrote an episode of the original series and worked on the movie.
The other show getting a pilot order is “Cordon”, a show that is based on a Belgian series that has a similar premise to “Under the Dome.” In “Cordon” an epidemic leaves the city of Atlanta under quarantine and the residents in a fight for their lives. So yeah, very similar premise, but I hope it’s executed better than “Under the Dome” was.
