David Cronenberg Considered For The Hunger Games Sequel?

Just a few days ago came the official word that Gary Ross has indeed walked away from The Hunger Games and will not be returning for the sequel. So with Ross out, just who could helm the sequel, Catching Fire?

According to the L.A. Times, Lionsgate has a list of potential names that they would like to see direct the sequel, in among those names are, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (Babe), Alfonso Cuaron (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban) and David Cronenberg (The Fly, Videodrome).

Nothing has been confirmed or denied at this time, but if Cronenberg did choose the job, I’d happily watch the sequel and see what he could bring to the table.
