Dwayne Johnson in Talks for Big Trouble in Little China Remake
Yes there are plans for a “Big Trouble in Little China” remake. I’ll give you a moment to let the shock of another John Carpenter remake set in. Okay? Alright, hold my hand and we’ll get through this together.
According to THR it would seem that Dwayne Johnson (aka The Rock) is in talks to star in a remake of the Carpenter classic “Big Trouble in Little China.” Johnson would be playing the role originally played by Kurt Russell in 1986. Considering he just came off one of his biggest opening weekends for a film in which he was the star, it would seem that Dwayne has the star power to get any role he wants right now. A “Big Trouble in Little China” remake is a surprising choice for him, but maybe he’s a fan of the original.
Set to write the project are Ashely Miller and Zack Stentz who previously worked on “Thor” and “X-Men: First Class.” No word yet on who might direct the film or if John Carpenter will play a role in it’s production. Given how past remakes of his films have gone, I doubt he’ll have much involvement if any.
