Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts will Cameo in the New Ghostbusters Film
It looks like the gang is finally all here. With Paul Feig’s new “Ghostbuster” film finally wraps up filming some new details have come out regarding who we can expect to see in the upcoming film. Earlier this year we learned that Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray would be making cameo appearances in the new film and now some more names have been added to the list.
According to The Hollywood Reporter Ernie Hudson, who played Winston in the original films, will making a cameo appearance in the upcoming film. There’s no word on whether or not he’ll be reprising his character, but given that it sounds like no one else is reprising their old roles I doubt he would. I’m thrilled Ernie Hudson will be in it though, Winston was always the overlooked and forgotten Ghostbuster, but he was always my favorite as a kid.
Along with Hudson the Boston Herald is reporting that Annie Potts, who played the humorless receptionist Janine, is also set to appear in the film. According to the Herald she’ll show up as a hotel clerk. Seems like a step down from being the Ghostbusters’ receptionist.
With the three surviving Ghostbusters, Janine, and Slimer appearing in the film there’s only one cast member left who could possibly come back: Rick Moranis. However, Moranis left the film industry a long time ago to raise his kids, so it doesn’t seem likely that he would return for a cameo. And with filming having wrapped, it seems like the time has passed. But with all these special cameos being leaked out, it’d be truly amazing if they managed to keep a Rick Moranis appearance underwraps. Here’s hoping they can pull it off.
The new “Ghostbusters” film is being directed by Paul Feig and stars Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and, Leslie Jones. Official details regarding the film haven’t been released yet, but the Boston Herald has some spoilerific details on the film’s overall plot if you’re interested.
