First Look at Strongman Pictures’ ‘Nova Star’
Daniel Armstrong and his team over at Strongman Pictures have been delivering entertaining films for the past few years, but they’ve recently really upped the ante with films like Tarnation and Sheborg Massacre and now it appears as if they’re really reaching for the stars… Literally. Their latest movie that is in the works is titled Nova Star, and it appears to be their most ambitious project to date. Strongman Pictures (TARNATION, SHEBORG MASSACRE) have just launched a crowdfunding campaign for Daniel Armstrong’s fifth feature, the sci-fi/comedy NOVA STAR.
Set in an 80s’ retro-future-world, Mack and her robot co-worker Spanners, clean toilets aboard a majestic spaceship, the Nova Queen. When an ancient star fragment is embedded in Mack’s skull by a dying space princess the space-shit hits the space-fan. Mack & Spanners are chased across the galaxy by Kill-Bots, Space Pirates, Bounty Hunters and an evil Space Queen who will use the Star to flush the entire cosmos out of reality through a black hole. Using everything she knows from a life working in sanitation it’s up to Mack to save the star, and save the galaxy!
Hosted on Monster Pictures‘ Pozible platform, the NOVA STAR crowdfunding campaign utilises a flexible funding model whereby regardless of the film reaching its $10,000 target, any contributions made during the campaign’s run will go directly toward funding the film. Campaign backers can choose from a wide selection of rewards, ranging from writer/director Daniel Armstrong personally singing the RED DWARF theme to you on-camera to a screen used prop to a producer credit to having Daniel Armstrong produce your very own film!
Proceeds of the crowdfunding campaign will go toward the construction of an interior spaceship set, somewhere to house it throughout the shoot, the design and make of custom wardrobe for a host of characters & aliens, as well as alien creatures, special space props and finally funds will go toward professional wire-work to simulate zero gravity and stunts for action sequences.
