Frank Grillo to Purge Again in ‘Purge 3′
After the success of “The Purge 2: Anarchy” it was heavily speculated that actor Frank Grillo would return for another purging. At the time the idea didn’t seem likely as it seemed “The Purge” series was trying to tell self contained stories in its twisted little universe. However, it looks like we might be getting some continuity after all.
According to Variety Frank Grillo will reprise his role as Sergeant for “The Purge 3.” No word on what the newest “Purge” will be about, but given the events of the last film, I’d imagine they’d continue to explore the idea of people revolting against the Purge. The latest sequel is set to hit theaters on July 1st, 2016. James DeMonaco, who wrote and directed the previous films, will return to write and direct this one as well.
Grillo is currently becoming a hot commodity as he’s filming a new series titled “Kingdom” for DirectTV and will be featured in the upcoming Marvel film “Captain America: Civil War.” I thought he was the best part of “The Purge 2″ so I’m happy he’s starting to get more roles, I’m interested in seeing what they do with his character in the next “Purge.” Hopefully it won’t be a bait and switch where they bring back the survivor of the last film only to have them killed off early on.
