Freddie Stroma to Play H.G. Wells in ‘Time After Time’ Series
Late last year we learned that Kevin Williamson, the writer behind “Scream”, was putting together a TV series adaptation of the ’70s thriller “Time After Time.” And now we finally have our first cast member.
Deadline has learned that Freddie Stroma (“UnReal”) will play the role of H.G. Wells in the TV series adaptation. In “Time After Time” H.G. Wells manages to construct a time machine and, of course, shows it off to all of his friends. However, what he doesn’t realize is that one of his friends is secretly Jack the Ripper. When the police learn of Jack the Ripper’s identity, he steals Wells’ time machine and sets off to the modern world. Of course, Wells can’t let this stand, so he sets off after him.
In the original 1979 film Wells was played by Malcolm McDowell. The film also featured David Warner as Jack the Ripper, though Jack has yet to be cast for the new adaptation. Marcos Siega, who directed episodes of “Dexter” and “The Following” is set to direct the pilot.
