Friday the 13th Has Been Delayed by 8 Months

With “Friday the 13th” seemingly finding a new director to guide the film, it appeared that the film was finally on track to get a sequel.  It even seemed marginally possible that they would be able to release the film on March 13, 2015 like they originally planned.

Well, it looks like that won’t be happening after all as Paramount has announced that they are delaying the release of the next “Friday the 13th” film by eight months.  The Wrap is reporting that the next sequel will now premiere on November 13, 2015.  Look, I know they’re dedicated to releasing the film on the 13th, but if you’re going to release it so close to Halloween why not just release it in October and get the full benefit of the Halloween season?  October needs more horror films.

And while Paramount is moving “Friday the 13th” from March, they are still filling that date with another horror-themed project.  ”Scouts Vs Zombies”, a horror comedy being directed by Christopher Landon (“Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones”), will now premiere on March 13, 2015.  The film stars David Koechner (“Anchorman”), Halston Sage (“Neighbors”), Patrick Schwarzenegger (Son of Arnold Schwarzenegger), and Logan Miller (“+1″) as Scouts in a rural town trying to survive a zombie attack.

Given that it’s unclear as to what the new “Friday the 13th” film will be, it makes sense that they are delaying the project to iron out the script and concept.  It’s a bummer that we’ll have to wait even longer to see the return of Jason Voorhees, but I’d rather the project be delayed then for them to rush out a crappy product.  Here’s hoping that eight months is enough to get Camp Crystal Lake up and running again.
