Fright Night Remake Failed To Bite At The Box Office
Craig Gillespie’s remake of, Tom Holland’s classic, Fright Night, failed to find an audience at the box-office, despite some good reviews and a 74% approval rating over at Rotten Tomatoes. According to Deadline, the film took in a measly $8.3M from 3,114 theatres. the film’s budget was estimated at around $30M, quite a loss.
All the hype and even the digs at Twilight couldn’t save this one, even having, David Tennant, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Colin Farrell didn’t help things either. Perhaps audiences are now speaking by not showing up, letting them know that we do not want remakes anymore and 3D isn’t helping matters.
Apparently, Gillespie is being panned for staying too true to the original. I thought he strayed too far from the original, the only thing that was remotely the same was, the title name, the name of the characters and a vampire moving next door. But, that’s just me.
If I was in charge, I would of had the movie “based” on, Tom Holland’s Fright Night, but changed the name and the characters names as to me, this is nothing like Fright Night. But, what do I know.
