‘Gallows 2’ Was Secretly in the Works and is Having Test Screenings
Remember “The Gallows?” It was one released back in 2015 to some pretty poor reviews, but since it was a micro-budget horror film it earned a pretty decent chunk of cash. Enough so that someone apparently greenlit a sequel to the film and didn’t tell anyone.
Thanks to a posting on 1iota, a site used for various ticketing events like test screenings, it’s been revealed that a test screening has taken place for a film titled “The Gallows 2.” According to the site the film is described as follows:
Sequel to The Gallows. After aspiring actress Auna Rue transfers to a prestigious new school, her desires are twisted by a viral challenge capable of conjuring a malevolent spirit.
So yeah. Looks like someone decided to secretly film it and test it out. It’s not an uncommon thing, we saw it recently with Adam Green’s new “Hatchet” film and when Adam Wingard directed “The Blair Witch,” but this kind of stealth releases are usually reserved for films that would generally have a lot of fan support. I can’t imagine there would be a lot of particular excitement over a “Gallows 2” release. So maybe they’re just testing the waters to see if it’s even worth putting out a new Gallows film. I don’t think it would be released this year, since we’re pretty close to the Halloween season, but I could see the film getting a potential release in January which has become a new resting grounds for horror films.
Stay tuned as we learn more.
