George Romero’s ‘Empire of the Dead’ Coming to TV
George Romero has a bevy of zombie films and properties to his name, but its his latest project that’s getting the TV treatment.
According to Variety George Romero’s new comic book series “Empire of the Dead” is being adapted into a TV series. In the comic a zombie outbreak in Manhattan causes the entire island to be quarantined. However, the rise of the undead isn’t the only threat as vampires soon enter the fray. Yup, Romero is mixing up his usual zombie tale with a bit of vampire flavoring.
The comic is a 15-issue series so it’s hard to say whether or not this will turn into a mini-series or if some studio will stretch it out into an actual TV series. For now the project doesn’t have a network attached to it, but it is being founded by Demarest who previously funded Kevin Smith’s “Tusk.”
