Guillermo Del Toro Says He’s Still Working on ‘Pacific Rim 2’
Looks like it’s not all doom and gloom for “Pacific Rim” fans. Yesterday we learned that Guillermo Del Toro’s “Pacific Rim” sequel was being pushed back indefinitely and seemed to be facing an uncertain future. Now the director has given take on the situation.
While talking with Entertainment Weekly Guillermo Del Toro was asked about the future of “Pacific Rim 2” and he gave a rather optimistic answer.
“We are still turning in a screenplay and a budget in three weeks,” writer-director Guillermo Del Toro tells EW. “As far as I’m concerned, it’s not gone. We’re still on it.”
Del Toro says the film’s delay is only temporary. “It moved further,” he says. “I may do another movie in the middle.”
It seems that Del Toro is fairly certain that his project will still happen, though I’m sure he has many other projects that he probably still considers in development. Like that “Haunted Mansion” movie or perhaps “In the Mouth of Madness.” Either way, if Del Toro is still plugging away at it then that does give me a bit of hope that the project is really destined for doom. I hope one day he can officially announce that he’s cancelling this cancellation.
