I Saw the Devil to Receive the Remake Treatment
When a film is that good, the only way to go is down. So, you’d think that Hollywood would take notice when remaking such films, but as history has proven, they never learn. So, what’s next on the chopping block? Well, it appears as if the Kim Jee-Woon’s awesome film I Saw the Devil, is heading down that dreaded remake road.
According to The Wrap, Adi Shankar and Spencer Silna’s 1984 Private Defense Contractors has acquired the English-language remake rights to Kim Jee-Woon’s 2010 South Korean serial-killer thriller I Saw the Devil.
Adi Shanker told the site;
Kim Jee-Woon’s ’I Saw the Devil’ is perfect in so many ways. The intention is not to remake the film per se, but rather to “port” it for international audiences,
At this time, that is all we have for you in regards to the upcoming remake, and if the remake of Oldboy is anything to go by, this one is already in bad shape. Saying that, it depends as to who they get to direct, but, I just say leave it be and what’s so bad about watching the original version?
