IFC Midnight Buys ‘Cabin Fever’ Remake
Last year we heard the early rumblings that Eli Roth was putting together a remake of the film that put him on the horror map: “Cabin Fever.” The strangest bit of news regarding this remake was that it was going to use the same exact script as the original. And now we know who will be helping to put that film together.
IFC Midnight has announced that they have purchased the rights to the “Cabin Fever” remake. The new film will directed by Travis Zariwny, whose previous credits include a slew of horror projects including a directorial credit on the feature film “Scavengers.” Eli Roth will be returning to the project as an executive producer.
The “Cabin Fever” remake is said to follow the same exact plot line as the original film, but whether or not that means we’re getting a carbon copy of the original remains to be seen. I would hope that they aren’t doing a shot for shot remake as I think that’s a tremendously bad idea. If they’re going to go through with this project then the best thing to do is to let Travis Zariwny put his own creative spin on the ideas put forth by the film.
I’ll be really curious to see how this whole thing turns out. Will this win over people who hated the original “Cabin Fever”? Will it push away fans of the original? I can’t wait to see how this plays out. What about you? What do you think of a “Cabin Fever” remake? Let us know below.
