IFC Midnight Scores The Babadook
With the recent arrival of the official trailer and poster for Jennifer Kent’s The Babadook, which has received a ton of buzz since its arrival at Sundance. We can now finally reveal that the film has been picked up for distribution.
According to Deadline, IFC Midnight has picked up the U.S. and Latin American rights to the upcoming horror flick, The Babadook. As it is still very early days, that is all the information we have at this time.
But, I’m sure it will receive a limited theatrical release as well as a VOD release, but who knows?
The film stars Essie Davis, Hayley McElhinney, and Daniel Hanshall.
Synopsis: Six years after the death of her husband, Amelia struggles to discipline her “out-of-control” six-year-old Samuel – a son she finds difficult to love. Samuel’s dreams are plagued by a monster he believes is coming to kill them both. When a disturbing storybook called “The Babadook” turns up at their house, Samuel is convinced that the Babadook is the creature he’s been dreaming about. And when Amelia begins to see glimpses of the creature herself, it slowly dawns on her that the thing Samuel has been warning her about may well be real.
