“Insidious: Chapter 4” Gets Pushed Into 2018
The next chapter in the “Insidious” series is just a littler further away today as we’ve learned we’re going to have to wait till 2018 to see what the next chapter has in store for us.
Deadline is reporting that “Insidious: Chapter 4” has moved off the 2017 schedule and is now premiering in 2018. The film was originally slated for release on October 20th, which would have put it just ahead of “Saw: Legacy.” While it would have been the umpteenth sequel in the “Saw” franchise, it could still put a deep cut into the “Insidious” box office earnings.
Instead Universal will put newcomer “Half to Death” in the October 20th spot. It stands to reason that a fresh film might have a better chance against a film that could potentially suffer from sequel-itis. “Half to Death” is directed by “Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones” director Christopher Landon and follows a teen who must relive her murder until she is able to figure out who her killer is.
“Insidious: Chapter 4” will now premiere on January 5, 2018 and will be directed by “The Taking of Deborah Logan” director Adam Robitel. The new chapter will center on series mainstay Dr. Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye) as she deals with a haunting in her own home.
