Jackie Earle Haley Joins the Cast of ‘Preacher’
Jackie Earle Haley may get a bad rap in the horror community for being attached to the “Nightmare on Elm Street” remake, but let’s not forget that the man is an excellent actor. Which is why I’m excited to see he’s about to join the cast of “Preacher.”
AMC has announced that actor Jackie Earle Haley has signed on to appear in the upcoming season of their newest comic book adaptation “Preacher.” The Oscar nominated actor will be playing Odin Quincannon. Without getting into major spoilers, Quincannon acted as a major antagonist for series protagonist Jesse Custer. Quincannon is a successful businessman who becomes a tyrant over a small town and uses his power and money to corrupt everything he touches.
What’s strange about his inclusion at this point is that Quincannon doesn’t appear in the comic book series until much later on. So I’m curious how he’ll fit into the story this early on.
In “Preacher” a down-and-out Preacher named Jesse Custer is fused with the spirit of an angelic being known as Genesis. This new fusion gives Jesse an ability known as “The Word of God” which allows him to command people to do whatever he wants. With his best friend Cassidy, an Irish vampire, and his ex-girlfriend Tulip, Jesse sets off across America to literally find God.
Dominic Cooper is set to play Jesse with Ruth Negga playing Tulip and Joseph Gilgun as Cassidy. The series is being spearheaded by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg and is expected to debut on AMC this summer. Stay tuned for more details.
