James Roday to Direct “Gravy”
James Roday, best known for playing Shawn on USA’s Psych, is making his directorial debut with the dark comedy Gravy. While this will be his first feature film, Roday is no stranger to the director’s chair. As a lot of actors are want to do, Roday has tackled directorial duties on his own TV show and has even helped write 14 episodes. Which, hopefully, has given him the experience needed to leap to the big screen.
Not much is known about the film except that it’s a bloody dark comedy about a group of friends who head to a Mexican cantina on Halloween night to order a “special” item not on the menu.
Roday co-wrote the script along with Todd Harthan who is also a producer and writer for Psych. While the announcement barely reached us this week, the film has already started production and Roday has rounded up quite a list of actors to star: Sarah Silverman, Michael Weston, Jimmi Simpson, Sutton Foster, Lily Cole, Gabourey Sidibe, Paul Rodriguez, Molly Ephraim, Lothaire Bluteau, Gabriel Luna and Ethan Sandler.
