John Carpenter Will Perform his Soundtracks Live for the First Time . . . in Iceland
I’ve never had a news story inspire such high and lows in me within one sentence. But this certainly does the trick. For the first time ever John Carpenter will be performing his soundtracks and original works live in concert, but it’ll be awfully hard for us Americans to see.
ATP has announced that next year John Carpenter will be appearing at their ATP Iceland 2016 festival to perform his soundtrack pieces and original compositions live. The performance will take place from July 1st through the 3rd in 2016, but tickets are currently on sale.
ATP’s Barry Hogan had this to say about getting John Carpenter to perform:
We are incredibly honoured to present the first ever show by this legendary film-maker and composer. Having had the opportunity to present the maestro Ennio Morricone twice in recent years, it has been a burning ambition of ours to also present John Carpenter, who is both a pioneer and a huge influence on us and so many great musicians and film-makers that we work with. You’d be fucking crazy to miss this.
It’s maddening that John Carpenter will be performing live and it’s all the way in Iceland. I’m sure there are some Iceland readers who are more than thrilled, but what about me and my needs? Hopefully this sort of performance will lead to Carpenter doing something here in the states. I won’t hold my breadth for it, but anything is possible.
