Jurassic Park 4 Officially Postponed
It’s good news/bad news time. First, Jurassic Park 4 is still coming. That’s the good news. The bad news is that it has been officially postponed by Universal.
However, the bad news is actually good news in disguise. The postponement is being implemented to give director Colin Trevorrow enough time to do the upcoming sequel justice. In a statement released to Deadline, Universal had this to say about the delay:
In coordination with filmmakers, Universal has decided to release Jurassic Park 4 at a later date giving the studio and filmmakers adequate time to bring audiences the best possible version of the fourth installment in Universal’s beloved franchise. We could not be more excited about the vision that Colin Trevorrow has created for this film, and we look forward to watching as he and the producers create another great chapter in this franchise’s storied history.
Yesterday we told you that the project was put on hold after Universal had to let go of production members in the wake of a creative dispute. No mention of that was made in the press release, so there’s no way of knowing if that actually contributed to the delay. Speculation will continue to point to that being the cause, but I highly doubt anyone will officially come out and admit to any behind-the-scene troubles.
No new release date has been given at this time.
