Kojima is Still Interested in Doing Anime, Movies and Games with Guillermo Del Toro
The relationship between video game director Hideo Kojima and film director Guillermo Del Toro has been on a long and rocky ride since April. Late last year they announced a partnership in which they were hoping to develop a new entry into the “Silent Hill” game series. However, that partnership seemingly fell apart in April when it became apparent that Konami was cancelling their project.
Long story short we came to learn that game company Konami was terminating its partnership with Hideo Kojima and, as a result, that was putting a halt to everything Hideo was doing under their label. Now, after months of grueling silence, Hideo Kojima was able to announce that he was leaving Konami and starting his own studio Kojima Productions. They even have a partnership with Sony to release their first game on the Playstation 4.
But what of his past with Guillermo Del Toro? Turns out Kojima has kept in touch with Del Toro all this time and is still interested in working with him. In an interview with IGN Kojima stated that “I have no idea what I’ll be working on with him, if it’ll be a game, a movie, anime, but someday I definitely want to create something with him.”
So its far from any sort of announcement, but it’s good to see that the two creative talents are willing to combine their brains and create something that’ll certainly be crazy. Personally, I’m hoping that they revisit their concept for “Silent Hills” and create a new game based off of what they had imagined. It would seem like the perfect way to get back at Konami for the way they handled his departure.
Hopefully we’ll be hearing more soon as Kojima gets back to what he does best: being a crazy man who makes great video games.
