Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way to Adapt The Shining Girls
Though Lauren Beuke’s serial killer time traveling story, “The Shining Girls”, has yet to hit bookshelves the novel has generated a great deal of praise and attention from those who have previewed it. So much so that MRC and DiCaprio’s Appian Way production company have decided to bring the book to television, according to a report from THR.
The novel, which hits store shelves on June 4th, tells the tale of Depression-era serial killer Harper Curtis who discovers a way to travel through time. However, in order to keep time traveling Curtis must kill “shining girls,” girls burning bright with talent and potential. One of his victims, Kirby Mazrachi, survives and teams up with an ex-homicide reporter at the Chicago Sun-Times in order to bring the killer to justice.
While MRC is more commonly known for their work on such movies as Ted and Elysium, they have had great success on the small screen with shows like House of Cards, The Ricky Gervais Show and The Life and Times of Tim. The project will also mark Appian Way’s second foray into television, their previous experience being with reality show Greensburg.
