Mads Mikkelsen Joins Doctor Strange as Main Villain
While Mads Mikkelsen’s turn as Hannibal Lecter may have been tragically cut short, the actor seems to be rebounding quite well. Next year Mikkelsen is set to star in the Star Wars spin-off film “Rogue One.” And now he’s set to appear in another Disney property.
EW reported today that Mikkelsen will play the main villain in their upcoming “Doctor Strange” adaptation opposite of Benedict Cumberbatch. The film currently has an impressive roster of actors including Rachel McAdams, Tilda Swinton, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Scott Adkins.
At this point they’re refusing to reveal who Mikkelsen is playing, but there are a couple of heavy hitters he would be perfect for in the Marvel Universe. Doctor Strange routinely runs afoul of baddies like Dormammu and the devil himself Mephisto, so it would be awesome to see Mikkelsen play one of those big names. Especially if it ensures that he plays a greater role in the Marvel Universe.
