‘Mama’ Director Takes on Houdini in ‘The Witch of Lime Street’
I feel like “Mama” director Andres Muschietti has been attached to a dozen different projects since he released “Mama.” For now it seems like he’s firmly attached to “It”, but now his name has been linked to another supernatural tale.
THR is reporting that Muschietti will helm STX Entertainment’s adaptation of the David Jaher book “The Witch of Lime Street.” Here’s how THR described the plot of the novel:
The book, set in the 1920s, centers on Harry Houdini and a panel of investigative experts who attempt to debunk Crandon, a psychic and spirit medium known as The Witch of Lime Street. Houdini made it his personal mission to debunk fake spiritualists as frauds and charlatans by revealing their tricks.
It seems that the film will feature the infamous escape artist in a showdown with supernatural elements. So while Houdini spent part of his life trying to disprove the supernatural, this film will just thrust him in to that world. It’ll be interesting to see if this really falls into the real of horror or if it’s more of a mystery thriller. Stay tuned as we learn more.
