Maniac Cop Returns With a Prequel!
Move a-side RoboCop, there’s a new cop in town that will give you a run for your money. William Lustig’s seminal classic Maniac Cop is on the way back with a modernized make-over, no, its not a remake , but a prequel.
It looks as if we all have the right to remain silent… Forever. As according to the Daily Grindhouse, William Lustig, Larry Cohen and Nicolas Winding Refn (DRIVE) will be producing the upcoming feature.
““It’s going to be more a prequel than anything else, I am really excited to come back to this world especially since Nick is going to be a part of it” said Cohen. “Nick (Winding Refn) has been talking to us about it for a while now and I had an idea that would work so we’re going to do it.” Cohen said that the film will still maintain the noir-ish comic book feel of the first three films but “with a bigger budget than the others have had.”
However, Lustig has cautioned that the project isn’t 100% signed off, but it is looking as if it is pretty close. What say you? Would you like to see Maniac Cop return in the form of a prequel?
