Marcus Nispel Making Backmask
From Voltage Pictures comes the news that Marcus Nispel, whose Conan the Barbarian comes to theatres this August, has lined up his next directing project.
Voltage Pictures has announced that Nispel will direct their supernatural thriller, Backmask. Backmask takes place during a sex, drugs, and rock-fueled party, six small-town teenagers find an old vinyl record and decide to play it backwards in order to listen for any subliminal/satanic messages.Well what do you know, a seemingly malevolent spirit quickly infiltrates the group, wreaking havoc as it moves from one body to another. Eventually, however, it’s revealed that the spirit in question is actually trying to convey a message… and that the real source of horror isn’t particularly paranormal, but rather something (or someone) much closer to home.
Nispel, who also directed the remakes of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Friday the 13th, will work with Paranormal Activity and Insidious producer Steven Schneider on the film, set to begin production on July 13th.
