Matt Westrup’s The Gate Becomes a Feature-Length Film

No wonder Matt Westrup’s short The Gate, was named one of 2011′s best short films, it looks stunning and definitely has me intrigued. But it also looks like Wayfare Entertainment has seen potential, as the short is set to for a feature-length version.

According to Deadline, Wayfare Entertainment has acquired the rights to produce and finance a feature-length version of Matt Westrup’s short thriller The Gate.

Matt Westrup will be returning to direct the feature version while Spencer Friend, Sarah Shepard and Michael Maher will be producing.

Westrup said, “Our plan for The Gate was to always expand and build upon the world that I conceived for the 11 minute short.” He continues, “Wayfare Entertainment shares our vision in taking those themes and ideas, and adapting them into a sci-fi thriller that is driven by a grounded, sophisticated plot and intriguing character arcs.”

The short film showcases some pretty cool mutations, but will it be just as good as the short? I guess time will tell
