NECA Reveals SDCC Exclusive Friday the 13th Figure

Perhaps you were a child of the 80′s who loved video games and horror flicks or maybe you retroactively learned about it through pop culture osmosis, but I believe almost everyone has heard of the infamous Friday the 13th video game that was released on the NES way back in 1989.

It was a simple enough idea.  You played as a camp counselor who had to go around saving kids from the wrath of “Jason Voorhees”. Before the advent of the internet and video game guides, this proved to be one hell of a task.  Navigating the campgrounds was a nightmare and it was incredibly easy to get lost and confused.  Then there were the unrelenting enemies who came in the form of birds, zombies, and Jason Voorhees who would kick your ass if you weren’t ready for him.

Now NECA, the fine makers of many awesome action figures, has created a special edition figure for this years San Diego Comic Con to pay tribute to that classic 80s game. Check it out below!

The box is designed to replicate the original 1989 8-bit video game’s packaging with a few clever changes, such as NECA’s logo in place of the gaming system’s name and the SDCC logo in place of the company behind the game. The fifth window box holds a 7-inch Jason action figure painted in the video game’s retro colors. The figure also features glow-in-the dark features and weapons (ax and machete), as well as a removable mask.

Fans can pick up Friday the 13th Jason (1989 Video Game Appearance) during San Diego comic-Con July 17-21 at NECA’s booth#3145. This exciting exclusive will be priced at $25.
