Netflix is Working on a Sequel to ‘Death Note’
Man, remember the live-action adaptation of “Death Note” that Netflix put out last year? Personally, as someone who didn’t really watch the anime version, I thought that the adaptation was just fine. However, I watched it with a friend who LOVED the anime series and he absolutely hated the adaptation. Based on the general reaction to the feature, I got a feeling that he wasn’t the only one that felt that way.
Despite the reception that “Death Note” received, it must’ve done well enough for Netflix in some capacity as they are reportedly working on a sequel. The Hollywood Reporter ran a story today about Netflix and their future film strategy. Among the projects in the works THR revealed that Netflix is moving forward with a sequel to “Death Note.”
At this time all we know about the project is that the film is being written by Greg Russo. So far it doesn’t sound like director Adam Wingard, who worked on the first film, will be back. Given that he has his plate full with “Godzilla vs Kong” and then the remake “I Saw the Devil” I’m sure he’ll be tied up for a bit.
