New Line Adapting Rampage Game to Film
I’m sure if you’re old enough you remember the very awesome 80′s arcade game Rampage? The one which featured a slew of monsters with the objective to wipe out a city. Well, how about a film based on that?
We have reported to you guys briefly on a Rampage adaptation, but there wasn’t much to go on. However, The Hollywood Reporter has stated that New Line Cinema has put the video-game into development for the big-screen.
John Rickard, who has worked as a co-producer on a slew of New Line films is said to be producing the adaptation and will be meeting with potential writers to develop a story for the film.
“The concept of the game revolves around a trio of mild-mannered humans who are mutated into a giant Godzilla-like lizard, a werewolf and a gorilla, respectively, and fight the military while destroying buildings. Players controlled the monsters and moved up levels when a city was destroyed.”
With the advancement of technology, it has given them the possibility to make a smartly-budgeted movie in the vein of Ghostbusters and Independence Day.
