Richard Rowntree Looks to Turn His Short ‘Dogged’ Into a Feature Film
We have absolutely nothing against crowdfunding, in fact we encourage you to pursue your passions, but sadly we can’t cover every film that chooses to use this platform, so we meticulously search through a slew of films for the best, and we think we have found one for you in the form of Richard Rowntree’s Dogged.
Richard Rowntree is certainly no stranger to film and TV as he has served as a key member of the art department on a slew of films such as World War Z and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. But it appears as if he has a true eye for horror as his short film Dogged has garnered a bounty of praise and he even came fifth in the BBC’s search for the best undiscovered horror film director!
So that brings us to this. Richard Rowntree has created a Kickstarter campaign in hopes he can raise £15,000 to turn his horror short Dogged into a feature film, and in doing so he needs your help. As always, the perks are awesome, and this campaign is no different. So, hit up the link above and see what’s on offer, and even if you can’t help financially, a simple share goes a long way, so if this looks and sounds like something you’d like to be involved with, hit them up and help independent horror thrive!
The film is set to star Sam Saunders and Aiysha Jebali.
If everything goes to plan, they hope to begin shooting this September 2016, with a completion date of April 2017.
If you guys still need some convincing, Rowntree has described Dogged as a cross between “Little Red Riding Hood, The Hills Have Eyes and The Wicker Man.” Sounds pretty awesome to me, as well as having practical FX.
Synopsis: Sam is stuck in limbo in the remote English village where he grew up – his parents disappointment, coupled with his own lack of direction lead to him seeking excitement in forbidden places.
As Sam searches for a purpose, he and his girlfriend Rachel are the unwitting victims of a peeping tom, and their lives begin to unravel in a depraved spiral of paranoia.
Sam soon discovers that there may be a link between the community leaders he’s grown to trust and a series of terrifying encounters with bizarre masked maniacs.
When Rachel disappears, and Sam’s worst fears become a reality, he uncovers a sinister cult who will stop at nothing to preserve the status quo of their environment, and keep their identity a secret…
