RIP Bill Hinzman: 1936-2012
It is with great sadness that we bring you this unfortunate news as we have lost yet another one of our own, a true veteran of the genre and an icon. Bill Hinzman is known by fans worldwide as the Graveyard Zombie from George A. Romero’s Night of the Living Dead, sadly, Bill Hinzman passed away after losing his battle with Cancer. Bill was 76.
Bill Hinzman was the first ever modern day zombie and all in all just an awesome fellow. Sadly I never had the chance to meet, Bill personally, but I’ve been told time and time again that he would always show up in costume at conventions to give fans an opportunity to take photo’s with the original zombie.
Bill starred in many a film, from The Crazies to There’s Always Vanilla while also dabbing his hand in directing with the 1988 film Flesh Eater, he is one guy that will never be forgotten. We here at Horror-Movies.ca would like to send our deepest condolences to Bill’s friends and family. R.I.P. brother, you will be missed.
