Shadow of the Beast Announced at Gamescom
Gamescom, the German E3, is currently taking place right now in Germany and with any big gaming event you can expect a few new videogame announcements. A few of which took place during the Sony Playstation 4 conference where they talked about some of the new IPs that would be coming to the upcoming next-gen platform.
One of which is “Shadow of the Beast”, a re-imagined take on an Amiga game that was originally released in 1989. The trailer, which you can view below, gives us a quick glimpse at the main protagonists and a demonstration of how violent the game might be. This new take on the game is being developed by Heavy Spectrum for the PS4 and will be released as a downloadable title.
If, like me, you never played the original game here’s a brief description from the Wikipedia page: The first game’s story is about a man named Aarbron who was kidnapped as a child and corrupted through magic into a monstrous warrior-servant for the evil beast lord Maletoth. The creature’s memory of his human life returns when he watches a man being executed, whom he later recognizes as his father. This prompts Aarbron to seek revenge on Maletoth.
